'Cher: The Musical' Is Actually Happening In 2018

June 7, 2017

We don't want to turn back time, but we want to flash forward to 2018. Cher confirmed late Tuesday that a musical chronicling her life story will open on Broadway next year.

The 71-year-old superstar shared the news on Twitter by saying that she had met with the show's writer and director about the 2018 launch.

The show will have plenty of Broadway's finest involved in the production. It's been previously reported that Jeffrey Seller (Hamilton) and Flody Suarez (Rise) will produce the show. Jason Moore (Avenue Q and Pitch Perfect) will be directing the show, and Rick Elice (Jersey Boys) will be a writer.

Yes, of course, the show is expected to feature a number of Cher's hit songs. That means that "Believe," "Turn Back Time," "I Got You Babe," and more will all be performed in the show.

This isn't the first time that the "Believe" singer has spoken about the show. Back in Janaury, she tweeted her excitement over seeing it on stage.

This does, however, mark the first confirmation that will open on Broadway next year. Cher performed "Believe" and "Turn Back Time" at the Billboard Music Awards earlier this year.
